If you’re a fashion-lover but just haven’t got the money to go out and buy a new wardrobe, knowing how to make the best of what you have can be challenging and depressing. Looking fantastic on a budget seems far too good to be true, however with the right strategies, you could get the wardrobe of your dreams for a couple of quid.

Here are a few top tips:

1. Buy basics

One of the best ways of shopping on a budget is to buy basics which can be worn with a number of other items. Try and avoid heavy patterns for a while until you build up plain pieces which can be paired easily. By collecting plain pieces, you can then save up for those heavy detailed pieces you have always wanted, without worrying what they will match with.

2. Buy generic names

It’s highly appealing to purchase branded names as it’s all the rage, but really… does anyone even notice the label stuck on the inside of your jeans or jacket? Most high-street shops copy the designs of top brands, therefore you can almost always pick up a piece you love for a quarter of the branded price.

3. Shop out of season

If you’re looking to grab a deal, always shop for clothes that are out of season. This doesn’t always mean they are out of fashion – it just means that lines have ended and some items need to be sold quickly to make way for new stock. One of the great things about buying out of season is that most fashion trends come back around again. Then, you can feel pleased with yourself knowing you got your piece for a fraction of the price!

4. Use accessories

Instead of purchasing lots of clothing pieces, why not jazz up your outfits with statement jewellery? This means you can dress your outfits up or down to create entirely different looks. Think about necklaces, bracelets, earrings and belts… all of these can work wonders to make your outfit even more stylish.
